Vegas or Bust... pretty much a complete BUST
Hmmmm, this is the 6th time I've posted this since
Friday at 8am, but it never shows up on the blog board, so I'm
re-posting it again. grrrr
Spent 3 night in Las Vegas this week,
for a business conference. It has been a strange experience. I've never
been to LV before, not really a destination of my choice, as I'm not
interested in gambling. I thought that perhaps I would have an
opportunity to meet someone one night and have a little fun. No such
luck. And as I write this I'm thinking, my god Danny, what the fuck is
wrong with you if can't meet someone in Las Vegas. Las Vegas, Sin City
for crying out loud. *sigh*. Well, perhaps a combination of being very
selective, and bad timing too. And I discovered that the online cyber
communities here are actually quite rude with lots of attitude. And
that was really my only outlet to try to find someone.
I
actually met a few nice guys online, but nothing that materialized even
in a friendly meeting. And being that I was here for work, I had to get
up early every day, so I wasn't about to explore the night clubs, which
really don't get started until after 11pm.
I'm feeling a bit disgusted with myself and my life in general, but having some difficulty writing down exactly why.
I
was here alone, although with a few guys who I know professionally. I
just don't fit into the typical guy who enjoys coming to LV. The
primary activities are gambling, drinking, and cigars. None of which
I'm very interested in. Gambling just doesn't do anything for me. I'm
not a heavy drinker, one or 2 beers a night is just fine for for me,
and cigars make me puke. lol. So I don't really fit in. And I wasn't
about to suggest to my colleagues to go check out the gay night clubs,
hahah.
So after dinner plans and a drink, which would take us
to about 10pm, I would call it a night, and head back to my room, and
my colleagues would hit the casino floor. The time difference didn't
help either as I was pretty tired by that time too. Well, I would go
back to my room and get online, and try to strike up conversations with
guys who I was interested in. It took a little time to sort out the
real people from the escorts. And just a lot of rude guys online. But I
did have a few nice chats, and I think I made one or two new cyber
friends, but nothing worked out as far as meeting. Had lots of nice
conversations, and then they would disappear. There was one nice guy
from Canada staying at a nearby hotel who I had been chatting with for
the first 2 nights. Wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but seemed
nice enough, and he was supposed to call me last night and we were
going to meet for a drink at Cesars, but he never called, and never
came back online either. So not sure what happened there. I did not
have his phone number.
Then, just as I was about to sign off for
the night, a guy IMd me, very polite, very nice, very attractive, and
very interested. But it was already very late, 11:30pm, he lived about
20 minutes away, and he had to get up early for work the next morning.
Despite being very tempted to come over, and despite my attempts to
convince him to come, he decided it was just too late.
So there you have it. I struck out.
Writing this in the airport waitng for my flight. And wow, they have free wireless internet access. woohooo!!!
